When is a copier not just a copier? When it’s a Xerox copier! As the inventor of the copy machine, no one has more experience or does it better than Xerox. BLI and Gartner Research prove that Xerox copiers offer the best throughput and are the most efficient copiers on the market. Reduced paper path mean fewer jams, Smart Trays that automatically detect paper size mean fewer copy errors, flexible media weights, outstanding copy speeds and higher toner yield are just a few of the specialties that continue to make Xerox the industry leader. Xerox has absolute market leadership in color quality and leads in productivity. If you want the overall best value and most user friendly product, Xerox is sincerely the winner.

hp logoHP is best known for its solid performing laser printers and has incorporated this technology into its copiers. Yet, the copier business has not been a huge success for HP. While you will get the product familiarity from its LaserJet printers, HP copiers will not provide the aggressive throughout your organization may be accustomed to. While you will get a solid, reliable product – it will have a different feel than from the major copier manufacturers. However, HP does offer some of the most dependable and easy to use copiers built.

Konica MinoltaKonica is one of the overall price leaders in the multifunction business. While Konica does incorporate its camera/imaging technology into its product; it is evident that Konica does not specialize in copier manufacturing. While Konica will deliver, it will not impress anyone in terms of image quality, throughput or features. What will be impressive is its price, but often it is not any less expensive than comparable product if you look at the total costs. For simple, basic, black-and-white copying it will do the job – for color look elsewhere.

Ricoh

Ricoh is the price leader in equipment acquisition costs. Often, you will find much of the same functionality as comparable manufactures – but you will quickly notice why their product leads in respect to acquisition costs. Build quality and output efficiency is not to be expected on a Ricoh product. If lowest possible capital cost is the biggest concern, Ricoh may be the answer. However, expect high total cost of ownership, increased downtime and significantly slower than average processing and printing speeds.

CanonCanon is one of Xerox's closest competitors, in fact, for a short period of time slightly offsetting Xerox in copier sales. However, Canon has slowed in its evolution and still bases some of its products off of designs from products introduced over eight years ago. Canon product cost is typically high but output is still above average. Canon does not particularly lead in any category of image quality, output speeds or functionality; but all around you will get a solid product.
